In many cases there are various pieces of small devices used for science classes, such as GPS systems and other devices that can be used for science activities.
The internet can be distracting. What are the restrictions for web browsing?

There is a firewall that blocks certain sites from being viewed. This restricts the students to school appropriate sites. Everything is secure on these computers to make sure the students aren't looking at unsuitable websites.

If students are listening to a presentation, how can they be more engaged with it?

While on the computer, students could be answering questions that go together with the presentation. This would be a simple participation exercise to see if they are listening.
